Paint Can Design

With Martha Stewart's new paint line set to hit the shelves at Home Depot in March, anticipation is high among those of us who have been scrambling these last several months to locate any Martha Stewart paint at all. Formerly available at Lowe's and Kmart, there has been a dry spell on the market where Martha's paint is concerned as the company phases out its relationships with those two retailers.

In conjunction with a new line of all-natural cleaning products, outdoor furniture and organizational pieces, such as storage units and cabinets, consumers can expect to see 200 colours in the new Martha Stewart Living paint collection at Home Depot this spring in the U.S. and Canada.
The design of the paint cans has a bold, retro feel to it. I'm assuming the label was designed by Doyle Partners in NYC, the design firm headed up by Stephen Doyle, husband of Gael Towey, who is the Chief Creative Officer at Martha's company. Doyle has been responsible for most of the company's branding designs, including the Martha Stewart Everyday packaging and the Martha Stewart Collection packaging at Macy's. The paint itself was developed by AkzoNobel, in partnership with Home Depot, and is quick-drying with low odour and low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) ensuring a safe and pleasant painting experience. I'm anxious to see the full colour palette! (Big thanks to Kenn for sending the image!)
